My oldest daughter sat calmly at the kitchen table telling me about how last night, before she fell asleep, she figured out how she could get the robot to pick up something. She’s on the girls’ robotics team at her high school, and they’d been struggling with how to get their newly built robot to pick up a ball.

I was born on a day of hell and high water. The water came from the Frankford Creek, which overflowed its banks and damaged many homes.
